From performing one-woman shows at 6 years old in her family’s living room, Ellen Rich has always felt at home in the theatre

CURRENT / UPCOMING

[Medea] Euripides’ Medea in a translation by Diane J. Rayor / UTC Theatre Company / November

Actor. Director. Artist.

Ellen’s first theatrical endeavor was in the fifth grade as the assistant stage manager for Fantastic Mr. Fox — sitting behind the stage to whisper cue lines to the actors while keeping the prop table nice and tidy. Ever since then, she has continued to develop her deep love of storytelling, creating connections with the audience, and fostering supportive and inclusive rehearsal environments.

Today, Ellen is an actor and director based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She most recently finished directing a production of Fantastic Mr. Fox — the very show where she first fell in love with the theatre. As a multi-hyphenate artist, she hopes to work with collaborators who value theatre that is accessible to all and tells stories that unite us. The rehearsal room is Ellen’s favorite place to be — where we can come together as artists, making heartfelt choices while being connected to the work and each other. The goal is to show artists and theatre goers alike that good art and good people can change the world, and hopefully make fifth-grade Ellen proud along the way.
